Soulé's # GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
Soulé's General Administration is a special group of staff assistants who work very closely with the company's direct line manager, namely Edward L. Soulé, founder and Chairman of the Board, Lee Soulé, President, and Stan Soulé, Executive Vice President.
BILL TEDFORD
In Los Angeles, management's man is Vice-President, Bill Tedford. Bill joined Soulé in 1941 as a cost accountant, left for a three year "hitch" in the Navy during World War II and returned to the San Francisco Accounting Department as Company Auditor.
Bill moved from Los Angeles to San Francisco and back again during the 1950's, holding a number of positions including Los Angeles Office Manager, Los Angeles District Manager, and Controller at the home office.
His hobbies include harmonizing with a barbershop quartet and maintaining a golf score in the low 80's.
DON WATKINS
Another executive staff assistant is Don Watkins, Controller and Assistant Secretary in San Francisco.
He started in 1952 as a Cost Accountant in the San Francisco Accounting Department, became the company's Chief Accountant and in 1963, was promoted to Controller.
As Soulé's Controller, Don is responsible for preparing company budgets and other data which enable management to control costs and expenses.
A third executive staff assistant is Howard Soulé, Corporate Secretary. Howard directs the Communications Department at the home office. His staff includes Elsie Kopfmann, PBX operator and a fifteen-year Soulé employee, Shirley Johnson, teletype operator, Ron Garcia, Mail-room Supervisor and Ena Moser, Blueprint Operator.
EXECUTIVE SECRETARIES
Rounding out the General Administration for the "line people" are the Executive Secretaries who keep the home office management wheels moving. They are Mae Ranche, Executive Secretary to Edward L. Soulé and Lee Soulé, and Elfie Baker, Executive Secretary to Stan Soulé, Don Watkins and Howard Soulé.

NINE S. F. PLANT SUPERVISORS WIN PRAISE AS PERFECT PUPILS
Nine S. F. Plant Supervisors completed the Safety Training Course with perfect attendance records, and were commended by Stanley Soulé, Executive Vice President.
An individual letter of commendation was given to each supervisor who attended all eight sessions of the course.
The highly condensed course, which covered a wide variety of matters, was conducted to bolster the company's 1965 Safety Program.
Mike Mickel, company Safety Director, says the course will be repeated in the future.

FIRST AID TRAINING AT THE SAN FRANCISCO PLANT
Selected night shift employees at the San Francisco plant have just completed a short but intensive course in first aid. They were selected by their supervisors to increase their ability to handle medical emergencies on the swing shift. Nurse Nancy Parsons has instructed Hank Dreesman and Homer Lewallen of the Reinforcing Fabrication Department and Jim Simpson and Sam Vigil of the Anodizing Department in basic first aid procedures.
They were taught to handle chemical burns, bleeding fractures and other injuries, and one of the most important things learned was the new method of mouth to mouth resuscitation. For instructional purposes, a life sized plastic model of a beautiful girl was used and for some reason, the students showed extreme cooperation!

LOS ANGELES FUND AWARD
A plaque of appreciation was recently presented to Soulé employees in Los Angeles and Long Beach for their outstanding support of AID United Givers (Associated In-Group Donors).
Michael Smith, an AID official, presented the award. Don Garner, Personnel Manager, Pat Wilson, Steel Structures Secretary, and Robert McNair, Bulldozer Operator, represented Soulé.
Approximately 50 per cent of our employees signed pledges as compared to 24 per cent last year. The pledges are distributed to the charity designated by the contributing employee.
THE CARELESS ACT

Accidents are usually caused in one of two ways — either a piece of equipment fails, or the workman himself does something wrong. The workman's careless act can be anything from forgetting to wear his safety equipment to not moving his foot out of the way when a load of iron is dumped.
More accidents today are caused by careless acts than equipment failure. Maybe it's because we're thinking about vacations, or the hot weather or who knows what, but, more people are getting hurt and we've got to do something about it. The *best thing* you can do is to stay alert and always remind the man working with you when he gets a little careless. The *accident you prevent may be your own!*

Lucien Richer has been promoted to Chief Estimator of Steel Forms and Framing headquartered at the L. A. office.
Norm Hopp has been promoted to Product Manager for the Commodity Products Division in Seattle for the Northwest Territory.
Herb Covey has been promoted to Engineering Supervisor for the Reinforcing Division in the Phoenix office.
